Yankees' Jazz Chisholm Jr. Says It Was 'Surreal' to Hit 2 HR After Friend's Death
Jazz Chisholm Jr. helped lead the New York Yankees to a 7-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Sunday with two home runs, the first of which was the 100th long ball of his career.
But he had more than just baseball on his mind after the death of his best friend on Saturday.
"It felt kind of surreal," Chisholm said after the win, per ESPN's Jorge Castillo. "I lost my best friend yesterday, so today felt like a different type of day, especially with the 100th home run coming today and everything."

Speed Strikes Out Big Papi
Chisholm, who was seen embracing Aaron Judge and burying his head in his teammate's chest after hitting the first of his two home runs, said he was dealing with a lot over the previous "30 hours or so."
His two-run homer in the second inning opened up the scoring, and his two-run homer in the eighth provided some insurance after the Red Sox had cut a 5-0 deficit to 5-2. That was all the scoring there would be in the contest, and New York salvaged a game after dropping the first three of the four-game set.
New York entered the series playing well with wins in seven of its previous eight contests, but it lost some of that momentum against the Red Sox. It is now 70-60 and 5.5 games behind the American League East-leading Toronto Blue Jays.
It currently holds the second of three AL wild card spots and sits a half-game behind rival Boston.
As for Chisholm, Sunday was another impressive performance in what has been the second All-Star season of his career. He now has 24 home runs and needs just one more to set a new career-high.
