La'el Collins Reportedly Released By Cowboys After Signing Contract in Free Agency
The Dallas Cowboys released veteran tackle La'el Collins on Sunday, according to ESPN's Todd Archer.
Archer noted that despite Collins' release, his work with the team's younger lineman was praised by coaches.
The 32-year-old appeared in three preseason games with Dallas after the team signed him as a free agent on Aug. 1. Collins was previously a member of the Cowboys from 2015-21.

He hasn't suited up in a regular-season contest since 2022, though.
Collins' status as a long-term piece on Dallas' offensive line was uncertain, even in a depth role. He was initially brought in following injuries to Cowboys lineman including Tyler Guyton, Rob Jones and Saahdiq Charles.
Dallas ultimately parted ways with Collins as it looks to trim its roster down to 53 players ahead of Tuesday's deadline at 4 p.m. ET.
The Cowboys initially brought in Collins as an undrafted free agent in 2015 following a college career at LSU. He went on to start 71 games with Dallas.
Collins held his own as a starter when healthy but was also hampered by several injuries, highlighted by hip issues that resulted in him missing his entire 2020 campaign.
He left the Cowboys and signed a three-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals ahead of the 2022 season, appearing in 15 games with the team. Cincinnati cut ties with him after just one year while he dealt with a left knee injury.
He briefly appeared on Dallas' practice squad in Jan. 2024. He also signed with the Buffalo Bills afterwards, but was released by the Bills ahead of the 2024 season.
Now, Collins will hit free agency once again.
