Aaron Boone Says Yankees Aren't 'Running Out of Time' Amid Struggles vs. Winning Teams

Zach BacharAug 23, 2025

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone gave his thoughts the team's recent issues against opponents with a winning record as 33 games remain in the regular season.

"No, we're not running out of time, but if we don't do better, then it's going to fizzle out and we're not going to get to where we want to be," Boone told reporters Saturday.

The skipper's comments came after a lopsided 12-1 defeat at the hands of the Boston Red Sox, dropping the Yankees to 69-60 on the season.

New York owns a record of just 32-35 against teams with a winning record this year, the worst mark among the six American League clubs currently sitting in postseason spots.

The Yankees led the AL East by as many as seven games earlier in the season and owned a 42-25 record on June 12, but have dealt with inconsistency ever since.

It's a worrying sign for a New York team that's looking to go on another deep postseason run after winning the 2024 AL pennant.

As things currently stand, the Yankees would face the Red Sox in a potential wild card series. Saturday's blowout defeat marked New York's eighth straight loss to Boston, though.

As the regular season begins to wind down, Boone still believes that his team can bounce back against the formidable opponents remaining on the schedule.
