Micah Parsons' Agent Denies Using Viral Profane Phrase to Jerry Jones in Contract Talk

Adam WellsAug 22, 2025

Conflicting statements now exist regarding the response Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones received from Micah Parsons' agent about a contract offer the team wanted to present to the star pass-rusher.

ESPN's Ryan Clark noted he spoke to David Mulugheta, who represents Parsons and denied he ever used a profane phrase toward Jones when the Cowboys attempted to make him a contract offer.

Appearing on Michael Irvin's YouTube show, Jones said Mulugheta "told us to stick it up our ass" when the Cowboys tried to make a long-term offer for Parsons.

Jones also said on the show the offer for Parsons "would've made him the highest-paid guaranteed player other than a quarterback in the NFL."

Jones has taken a strange approach while trying to get Parsons signed to a long-term extension. The Cowboys owner told reporters in April he offered Parsons a deal that would have made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL, but that he didn't want to go through Mulugheta to negotiate.

Jones also went on to say he didn't know Mulugheta's name. That prompted a response on X from Parsons defending his agent and stating there "will be no backdoors in this contract negotiation."

Parsons formally requested a trade on Aug. 1 due to stalled contract discussions with the Cowboys. The Athletic's Dianna Russini noted one of the key issues between the two sides was their perspective on talks that occurred during the spring.

According to Russini, Parsons thought a direct conversation with Jones was just talk and he wanted Mulugheta to handle formal negotiations. The team felt like the one-on-one talks were a negotiation and they had a deal in place, so they were "refusing" to engage Mulugheta.

Jones has dismissed Parsons' trade request, calling it part of the negotiating process. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer said on Wednesday he expects Parsons will be on the field when the Cowboys open the regular season on Sept. 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Pittsburgh Steelers star T.J. Watt is currently the NFL's highest-paid non-quarterback with a $41 million average annual salary.

Parsons is entering the final season of his rookie contract with a $24.7 million base salary in 2025. The 26-year-old has made the Pro Bowl in each of his first four seasons and is a three-time All-Pro selection, including back-to-back first-team appearances in 2021 and 2022.
