Kyrgios has been forced to miss several Grand Slams in recent years due to injuries. He also withdrew from Wimbledon earlier this summer and said he would sit out the remainder of the grass-court season.
It was just three years ago that Kyrgios had his best showing in a Grand Slam tournament when he finished as the runner-up at Wimbledon in 2022 after losing to Novak Djokovic.
There are no Grand Slams remaining on this season's schedule after the US Open, so Kyrgios will have to focus on getting healthy and preparing to chase his first major singles title next year.
The 2025 US Open will complete its qualifying round on Friday before officially getting underway with the first round on Sunday.
