Terry McLaurin Reportedly Not Available in Trades, Commanders Aim to Finalize Contract

Andrew PetersAug 20, 2025

While Terry McLaurin has asked out of Washington, the Commanders reportedly aren't interested in trading him.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported on the Scoop City podcast that the Commanders haven't made McLaurin available.

"When you have conversations around the league about availability, Terry's not one of those," Russini said (15-minute mark). "Teams are continuing to get the same answer, which is 'We're trying to work a deal out here.'"

McLaurin is currently set to play the 2025 season on the final year of a three-year, $68.4 million contract and has a base salary of $15.5 million.

McLaurin reportedly is seeking a deal north of $33 million per year, though Russini reported earlier this week that he is unlikely to get that kind of money. Russini also noted that a deal within the $27 to $28 million range would be good for both sides.

McLaurin has been a productive and consistent receiver throughout his career, recording 1,000 or more receiving yards in each of the last five years. Though he's led the Commanders in receiving yards in every season of his career, he will also be 30 next month, so giving him a lucrative extension could be a bit risky.

While the Commanders and McLaurin appear to be far apart on a deal, it seems he won't be traded anytime soon.
