Broncos Reportedly Trade Devaughn Vele to Saints for Draft Picks, Updated Depth Charts
The New Orleans Saints reportedly have added some wide receiver help ahead of the 2025 season.
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Saints acquired wide receiver Devaughn Vele from the Denver Broncos in return for a 2026 fourth-round pick and 2027 seventh-round pick.
Here's a look at the two squads' updated depth charts:

Vele, a seventh-round pick out of Utah in 2024, had a productive rookie season, recording 41 receptions for 475 yards and three touchdowns. While he likely would have gotten plenty of reps this year, ESPN's Adam Schefter noted that the strong play of Troy Franklin and Pat Bryant during training camp has made Vele "expendable."
With Vele gone, a handful of receivers could end up being quality fantasy additions.
Marvin Mims Jr. was the Broncos' second-leading receiver behind Courtland Sutton a year ago, and he should only get more targets this year since Bo Nix won't have Vele as a third option.
Franklin had a decent year last year, recording 263 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but it appears he'll get more looks in 2025, possibly indicating a breakout year.
With Vele on the roster, it likely would have been difficult for Bryant to find his place in the offense, but now the rookie should get more reps than he previously would have.
The Saints, under first-year head coach Kellen Moore, are looking to find their identity on offense, and it appears they want all the receiver help they can get while they do that.
The next task for New Orleans is establishing its starting quarterback. Second-year quarterback Spencer Rattler and rookie Tyler Shough are currently battling it out for the QB1 role, and Moore said earlier this week that the competition is "really close."
