Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo Return to Giants Practice amid Injuries, Thomas Activated

Paul KasabianAug 19, 2025

The New York Giants received some good news on Tuesday as wide receiver Malik Nabers (back) and running back Cam Skattebo (hamstring) returned to practice, per ESPN's Jordan Raanan.

In addition, left tackle Andrew Thomas, who underwent season-ending surgery last year for a Lisfranc injury in his foot, was activated off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.

Per Raanan, Nabers had been out for two weeks with a minor back problem, according to multiple sources. One source called it "normal camp tightness."

Seeing Nabers out there is a great sign. He was one of the lone bright spots from the 2024 season, as the then-rookie caught 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games.

The No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft met the hype and then some despite playing with four different quarterbacks in a rough year for the offense (No. 31 overall).

Skattebo was a fourth-round pick in this year's draft. He amassed 2,316 yards from scrimmage and 24 total touchdowns for Arizona State in 2024 and finished fifth in Heisman Trophy voting.

He'd been out for a few weeks. On Aug. 2, head coach Brian Daboll called him "day-by-day" and told reporters that "He's working back from rehabbing something, so had a little bit of setback."

Obviously, that's a tough setback for a rookie trying to get important practice reps and carve out a spot in the backfield. As of now, Tyrone Tracy leads the way there, with Devin Singletary also figuring to be in the mix. However, the talented Skattebo can certainly see work there as the season goes along.

Seeing Thomas back is a fantastic sign. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft, who was a 2022 second-team All-Pro, has been a stalwart on the blind side for much of his career. Unfortunately, injuries have forced him to miss 18 games over the last two seasons. A healthy Thomas would go a long way toward the Giants' offense finally showing signs of life after two rough seasons.
