Angel Reese Reveals Her Goals Are to Win WNBA Title, Olympic Gold Medal

Zach BacharAug 18, 2025

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese laid out the goals that she wants to achieve by the time her playing days come to an end.

"I don’t really care about records—I just want to win a championship," Reese said in an interview with Elle's Kayla Webley Adler. "The two most important goals for me before the end of my career are winning a championship and playing on the Olympic team and winning a gold medal."

Reese already has some championship experience dating back to her college days, winning a national title at LSU in 2023.

The No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft has averaged 13.8 points and 12.9 rebounds per game while shooting 41.1 percent from the field across two years with the Sky, but the team has struggled to rise up the league's standings.

Chicago finished with a 13-27 record in Reese's rookie year and sits at 8-25 this season. It's worth noting that the two-time All-Star has missed 10 games while dealing with a back injury.

Reese wasn't part of the United States women's basketball team that won gold at the Paris Olympics last year, but she was on the roster of WNBA All-Stars that beat Team USA during the 2024 All-Star festivities.

If Reese is able to secure a U.S. roster spot ahead of the 2028 Summer Olympics, she'll have a strong chance to achieve at least one of her goals. The United States women's squad has obtained an Olympic gold medal eight times in a row at the Games.
