Fantasy Football 2025 Updated Rankings and Advice for Team Names
With the second week of the 2025 NFL preseason officially over, managers are in the thick of fantasy draft season. It's wise to wait until just before the start of the regular season to draft, but the season will kick off in mere weeks.
Only one week of preseason action remains, roster cuts are due on August 26, and the regular season will open with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles on September 4.
For managers who haven't spent the offseason studying, it's cram time. We're here to help with some updated point-per-reception (PPR) rankings, a look at the latest buzz from preseason Week 2 and a little advice for crafting the perfect team name.
Latest Week 2 Buzz

The second week of the preseason brought a few fantasy-related developments, though several starters were held out of the action.
We saw a few incredible throws from Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward, even though his numbers (2-of-7 for 42 yards) weren't impressive. The No. 1 overall pick has the tools to be special, he will be Tennessee's Week 1 starter, and he could be worth a bench spot in larger leagues.
Rookie second-round pick Tre Harris finally had a standout game for the Los Angeles Chargers, finishing with six catches for 85 yards. While the Chargers did bring back Keenan Allen this offseason, Harris has a good chance to establish himself as Justin Herbert's No. 2 target opposite Ladd McConkey.
The Las Vegas Raiders saw the potential of their first-round rookie, Ashton Jeanty. The star running back out of Boise State looked terrific against the San Francisco 49ers, finishing with 33 rushing yards, a 4.7 yards-per-carry average, one rushing touchdown and one reception.
Jeanty projects as one of the NFL's few every-down backs this season. He's trending as a second-round selection who could even garner first-round consideration.
Former Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb isn't likely to be drafted highly following two injury-hampered seasons. However, he fared well for the Houston Texans in Week 2, averaging 5.0 yards per carry and logging one reception. With Joe Mixon still battling an ankle injury, Chubb could see a fairly significant workload early in 2025 and perhaps throughout the season.
Mixon's situation is one to watch between now and fantasy drafts, and he should probably be avoided altogether until there's more clarity. Dameon Pierce and rookie fourth-round pick Woody Marks also deserve some consideration in Houston's backfield.

Team Names

Managers who want to add a personalized touch to their fantasy team usually look for a creative and memorable name. It's not a requirement, of course, but there's something fun about giving league-mates a chuckle while soaring past them toward a fantasy championship.
The traditional method for crafting a fantasy name is combining a player's name with a common phrase, title or pop-culture reference. However, managers can take things a step further by considering a theme that speaks to them. Whether managers have a passion for music, film, television or just bad puns, they should be able to find a name that works for them.
Of course, that's the most important aspect of the team-naming process. This is your team. Make it yours.
