Bryson DeChambeau, More Join Scottie Scheffler Qualifying for 2025 USA Ryder Cup Team
Six golfers have now officially qualified for the United States' Ryder Cup team, as Scottie Scheffler, J.J. Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Harris English and Bryson DeChambeau finished top-six in the standings and earned automatic berths.
The six remaining roster spots will be captain's choices from Keegan Bradley. Given that he finished top-12 in the standings, he potentially could choose himself to be on the team as the first player captain in the past 62 years.
Bradley has the support of his fellow players if he ultimately chooses himself.
"Yeah, I would pick him too," Rickie Fowler told reporters last week. "I think it would be hard to find really any or many Americans that would argue that point."
It may come down to whether Bradley feels he can handle the busy workload that comes with being a captain on top of playing. That would likely require doling out more responsibilities on his five vice captains.
"I think he has a lot of responsibility that week," Patrick Cantlay told reporters. "So if he feels that he can play golf like a normal week, given all his other responsibilities, I'm just saying that if I was the captain, I think he's definitely one of the best American players, and his results have shown that."
If Bradley leaves himself out, Andrew Novak, Cameron Young and Cantlay would be among the options to replace him.
On the European side, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood have already earned automatic qualification on the team, with the remaining automatic qualifiers to be decided by Aug. 24.
