Trey Hendrickson's Top Landing Spots with Bengals Reportedly Listening to Trade Offers
The 2025 NFL season is fast approaching, but Trey Hendrickson's future is very much up in the air.
That is especially true after Sunday's latest update.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported the Cincinnati Bengals "are listening to trade offers" for the pass-rusher. Rapoport noted any such trade "will be expensive, likely with a young player and a future pick if possible" since the Bengals are in win-now mode and don't want to sacrifice much of their outlook for the upcoming campaign.
Hendrickson led the league with 17.5 sacks last season and has been to the Pro Bowl in each of the last four campaigns. It is no wonder the Bengals are going to be asking for a lot, although the season being just weeks away limits their leverage some.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported the Carolina Panthers, Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Browns are interested in trading for Hendrickson, although they are far from the only potential landing spots.
Here are the odds for Hendrickson's team for this season, per DraftKings:
- Cincinnati Bengals (-450)
- Carolina Panthers (+500)
- Detroit Lions (+800)
- Indianapolis Colts (+1000)
- Green Bay Packers (+1000)
With that in mind, here are some other possible landing spots that might make more sense than three AFC teams Cincinnati may be hesitant to trade to and that are more than one piece away from being true contenders.
- Philadelphia Eagles
- Green Bay Packers
- Chicago Bears
Philadelphia's Super Bowl defense is going to look quite different up front after Brandon Graham retired, Josh Sweat signed with the Arizona Cardinals and Milton Williams signed with the New England Patriots.
While Nolan Smith and Jalen Carter are both there, the Eagles could use some more pass-rushing depth. They are also clearly in win-now mode as they chase a second straight Lombardi Trophy and would immediately address any lingering pass-rushing questions by trading for Hendrickson before the season.
Elsewhere in the NFC, the Packers could use someone like the Bengals star.
Jeffri Chadiha of NFL.com called "improving the pass-rush" Green Bay's biggest challenge for the upcoming campaign. Luka Van Ness, who was a first-round pick in 2023, has not lived up to expectations with seven combined sacks through two seasons, and containing the explosive offenses of the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings will require a better effort.
There have also been some rumblings connecting Green Bay to Micah Parsons, although the Dallas Cowboys would likely be hesitant to trade him to another NFC team if they move him at all. The Bengals may be more eager to deal with the Packers since they are in the AFC.
Green Bay's rivals in Chicago could also use an improved pass-rush if it is going to turn the corner and be competitive in head coach Ben Johnson's first season.
Nobody on the Bears had more than 5.5 sacks last season, and there is a glaring lack of impact pass-rushers outside of Montez Sweat. Even if Caleb Williams makes a jump in his second season behind an improved offensive line with solid weapons, the ceiling will be lower in the Windy City if the defense doesn't generate better pressure.
A Sweat-Hendrickson combination would do just that.
