The Seattle Storm unveiled the statue honoring franchise legend Sue Bird on Sunday.

The 13-time All-Star is the first player to be immortalized in bronze by her WNBA team.

Bird spent her entire 19-year career in Seattle. She combined with Lauren Jackson to win a pair of titles in 2004 and 2010 and then stuck around as the Storm rebuilt a contender around Breanna Stewart and Jewell Loyd. They were crowned champions again in 2018 and 2020.

After winning the 2018 WNBA Finals, Bird reflected how she wasn't sure whether she'd get there again.

The Hall of Famer is the franchise's all-time leader in points (6,803), assists (3,234) and steals (724). Given her longevity, it will be a long time before another Storm player challenges any of those marks.

"Sue's legacy isn't just written in championships — it's woven into the fabric of Seattle," Storm president Alisha Valavanis said in July when the organization first announced Bird's statue. "Her leadership transcended basketball and helped shape a cultural shift — one that expanded who gets to lead, who gets seen and who gets celebrated."

The Storm already retired Bird's No. 10 jersey during the 2023 season. She and Jackson are the only ones with their numbers hanging in the rafters of Climate Pledge Arena.

Bird hasn't strayed too far from the franchise in retirement. She become a minority stakeholder in the team in April 2024.
