WNBA's A'ja Wilson Makes Fart Analogy When Discussing Not Forcing Her Game

Joseph ZuckerAug 16, 2025

Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson used a colorful analogy to describe how she wants her game to flow naturally within her team's offense.

Following Friday's 86-83 win over the Phoenix Mercury, Wilson quipped that forcing her shot is "like forcing a fart."

"All you get is s--t," she said.

Aces guard Chelsea Gray was pretty much every WNBA fan who heard Wilson's remarks the first time around.

The evocative imagery certainly gets the three-time MVP's point across. Working outside of the offense's rhythm can tend to have a — ahem — crappy ending, be it a turnover or tough shot that results in a defensive rebound.

In the case of the Aces, spreading the wealth is also important. Gray, Jackie Young and Jewell Loyd are all multi-time All-Stars and will want their share of looks. NaLyssa Smith arrived in a midseason trade at the cost of a 2027 first-round pick, so involving her in the offense is important as well.

There are, of course, moments when the Aces' strategy boils down to giving the ball to Wilson and letting her cook. She's averaging 22.3 points on 48.2 percent shooting, and her consistency has been invaluable for a unit that ranks sixth in offensive rating (103.3), per WNBA.com.

In Friday's contest, Wilson had 30 points on 16 shot attempts and went 14-of-15 from the charity stripe.

The Aces' winning streak now sits at six games, and they've moved into a tie with the Phoenix Mercury for the No. 4 seed.

When it comes to the playoffs, Las Vegas will go as far as Wilson can carry the team, but she knows the Aces aren't at their best if they're a one-woman show.
