By picking up their 18th win of the year, the Valkyries set a new record for the most wins in a season by an expansion team.

Hailey Van Lith joins new team

Ex-Iowa star Kate Martin waived by WNBA team
The previous record was held by the Detroit Shock, who had 17 wins during the 1998 campaign.
Friday's win came behind 20 points from Cecilia Zandalasini, 15 points from Janelle Salaün and Iliana Rupert. Tiffany Hayes and Veronica Burton were also in double figures in the win.
Chicago's Rachel Banham had 15, but it wasn't enough for the Sky to stay competitive without star Angel Reese.
With the win, Golden State improved to 18-15 on the year, and the Valkyries are sitting in sixth place in the WNBA standings with less than a month to play in the regular season.
No WNBA expansion team has ever made the playoffs in its first season, but Golden State is well on its way to doing so after setting a new record on Friday.
