Fantasy Football 2025 Mock Draft Strategy, Dynasty and Keeper Cheat Sheet
Fantasy football doesn't have to be only a one-year commitment.
If you're craving an experience more akin to overseeing an NFL franchise, than dynasty and keeper leagues are what you're after. In this format, the slates aren't wiped clean upon the completion of a campaign, but rather you're carrying over your roster—or at least parts of it—from one season to the next.
This provides more control over your team and demands you focus on a cohesive timeline. Everything from pushing for an immediate contender to engineering a future-focused youth movement is on the table, and your mindset should shape each and every one of your selections.
To help get you in the dynasty mode, we'll run through a simulated three-round mock dynasty draft, discuss mock draft strategies and close with our top-30 dynasty ranking cheat sheet.

Dynasty Mock Draft Strategies

Use different timelines in different mocks.
If you find yourself in the first year of a dynasty league, then you have full flexibility to build an entire roster. And while you might have an idea about how soon you hope to compete, you should also be open to react to the draft room in real time. If win-now veterans keep falling, you might be wise to snatch up those bargains and start chasing a championship right now.
You should be prepared for everything, though, and mock drafts are perhaps the best tool for that preparation process. You won't find better feedback on how win-now and youth-focused rosters will look until you're putting those team builds together in a draft room with other mock-drafters.
Study trends.
If you plan on doing a mock draft, you should probably plan on doing five of them. Or maybe 10. Since draft rooms are subject to the whims of participants, data can be skewed in a single mock. If you're mocking with a superfan who has to roster, say, all of the Dallas Cowboys, then that pushes all of their values up and everyone else's down.
The trick, then, is to get in enough of these mocks where certain trends start to materialize. It's akin to average draft position data, only it'll bend around unexpected picks as they arise. Still, it'll wind up painting a pretty clear picture of where a player is expected to go.
Mimic your league settings.
This is true for any mock drafts, but since dynasty leagues run even longer, you'll want to know the settings yours uses inside and out. If you're not tailoring your roster around those settings, then you're doing it wrong.
Simple things like league and roster sizes are easily replicated, but if you can, try to match up scoring formats as best you can. That not only puts you in the position of drafting for those guidelines, it also pits you against folks who'll be doing the same—just like they will at your actual talent grab.
