Taylor Swift Called Patrick Mahomes, Brittany After Recording Travis Kelce's Podcast

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said he knew about Taylor Swift's upcoming album announcement on Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast because she and Kelce called his wife after recording the episode.

"I knew before y'all did, because they called me before the podcast was done— They didn't call me, they called Brittany, and I was in the back of the FaceTime," Mahomes told reporters on Wednesday (h/t KCTV 5's Marleah Campbell).

Mahomes continued, "Just knowing Taylor and seeing the process from just a little bit closer of how she makes the albums, it's going to be amazing because of how much work she puts into it. And what better place to announce it than the New Heights podcast, where I feel like she can be herself and showcase who she is?"

The quarterback added that he would be "tuned in" when the new episode of the podcast drops.

Swift announced the title of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, while speaking with Travis and Jason Kelce in a teaser from the upcoming New Heights episode posted Tuesday on social media.

The album cover will be shown for the first time when the full podcast episode is posted on Wednesday night, according to the teaser.

Mahomes isn't the only member of the Chiefs who has recently expressed support of the relationship between Swift and Kelce.

When asked about the upcoming New Heights episode on Wednesday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid joked that he was "really old" before adding that he was happy for the couple (h/t Campbell).

"I am happy for them. Both of them like each other, and what a plus that is," Reid said. "They care about each other, and I think that's the most important thing. The older you get, you want these guys to have somebody they can settle down with."

The New Heights episode featuring Swift is set to drop on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. ET.
