Cameron Brink Suffers Ankle Injury as Sparks Lose to Liberty, Severity TBD
Cameron Brink's comeback from a torn ACL hit a snag Tuesday night as the Los Angeles Sparks lost 105-97 to the New York Liberty.
The second-year forward picked up a minor ankle injury and was limited to just five minutes on the floor. She finished with two points and three rebounds.
Sparks head coach Lynne Roberts told reporters after the game that Brink "tweaked" her ankle, with the full severity unclear. Since the 23-year-old is still on a minutes restriction, the coaching staff exercised caution and held her out for the remainder of the contest.

The Sparks sorely missed Brink's presence inside as the Liberty's frontcourt tandem of Jonquel Jones and Emma Meesseman combined to score 45 points. Jones also collected 11 rebounds to record her ninth double-double, while Meesseman nearly had her first (nine boards) since signing with New York.
Leonie Fiebich chipped in with 20 points, falling just short of her career high.
As a team, New York shot 55.9 percent from the floor, including a 14-of-28 clip from beyond the arc. The reigning WNBA champion didn't suffer offensively with two-time MVP Breanna Stewart once again sidelined.
The best efforts of Sparks stars Kelsey Plum and Dearica Hamby were for naught. Plum dropped a game-high 26 points along with five rebounds and five assists. Hamby filled out the stat sheet with 21 points, eight boards, three assists, four steals and one block.
Los Angeles has a few days off before it's back in action Friday against the Dallas Wings. That provides Brink with some time to rest her sore ankle. Maybe she'll get the green light to return to the rotation.
