Eagles' Landon Dickerson Reportedly to Have 'Minor' Surgery, Week-to-Week with Injury
The defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles avoided a potentially major blow as they gear up for the 2025 campaign.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported that Eagles guard Landon Dickerson will undergo a minor procedure on his knee and will be considered week-to-week with the goal of being ready to start the regular season.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier on Monday that Dickerson "is thought to have suffered a meniscus injury to his right knee." He reportedly sought additional opinions to determine his next course of action and how much time he would miss.
Dickerson was carted off the field toward the end of Sunday's practice after appearing to suffer a right leg injury. Schefter noted that he was "unable to put any weight on it."
ESPN's Tim McManus noted that Dickerson was listed on the injury report with a knee issue for Saturday's practice following Thursday's preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals. However, he added that Dickerson wasn't included on the injury report for Sunday's session.
The injury reportedly occurred when Dickerson went down on a pass play over two hours into practice. He "stayed on the ground for several minutes as teammates gathered around him," per McManus. He was then helped off the field before being carted back to the locker room.
Dickerson played a key role in paving the way for the Eagles' second Super Bowl win in franchise history, earning a selection to the Pro Bowl in each of the last three seasons. He was rewarded with a four-year, $84 million contract extension prior to the 2024 season, which made him the highest-paid guard in NFL history. He also helped star running back Saquon Barkley achieve a historic season last year with 2,504 rushing yards, including the playoffs.
McManus added that six-year veteran offensive lineman Brett Toth replaced Dickerson in the lineup after he went down on Sunday. Toth didn't appear in a game in the 2024 season.
The Eagles are certainly breathing a sigh of relief, as it appears that Dickerson will be ready to help them try to make a second straight trip to the Super Bowl.
