Morice Norris Reportedly Back at Lions Facility After Being Hospitalized with Injury

Andrew PetersAug 11, 2025

Detroit Lions safety Morice Norris returned to the Detroit Lions' training facility two days after leaving a preseason game in an ambulance, per the Associated Press' Larry Lage.

According to Lage, Norris was released from a hospital in Atlanta and returned home on Saturday.

Detroit head coach Dan Campbell announced on Monday, via Colton Pouncy of The Athletic, that Norris was in concussion protocol.

In the fourth quarter of Friday's game, Norris' head collided with the leg of Falcons running back Nathan Carter as he attempted to make a tackle. Medical staff attended to him on the field for about 20 minutes before he was taken to the hospital.

After Norris was taken off the field, the Lions and Falcons players opted not to finish the game, instead snapping the ball and letting the clock run down. The game was suspended with 6:31 remaining.

“Raheem Morris is a class act,” Lions coach Dan Campbell said of the Falcons' head coach. “He’s the ultimate class act. We agreed it just didn’t feel right to finish that game.”

On Friday, after Norris had been taken to the hospital, the Lions released a statement, saying that Norris was "in stable condition and has feeling and movement in all his extremities."

Norris also let fans know that he was "all good" and told them not to worry.

The full extent of Norris' injury is still unknown, but it's a good sign that he was able to return to the Lions' facilities on Sunday.

Norris, a standout at Fresno State, went undrafted in 2024 but signed with Detroit ahead of last season. He spent most of the year on the practice squad but got some action on special teams in Weeks 17 and 18. He also appeared on special teams in the Lions' NFC Divisional Round loss to the Washington Commanders.
