49ers Sign RB Jeff Wilson to Contract amid Jordan James, Isaac Guerendo Injuries
Amid a handful of injuries in their running back room, the San Francisco 49ers are bolstering their backfield.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the 49ers are re-signing running back Jeff Wilson, who previously played in San Francisco before spending the last few seasons with the Miami Dolphins.
The signing of Wilson comes after running backs Jordan James and Isaac Guerendo suffered injuries.

James, a fifth-round pick this year out of Oregon, broke his finger in practice and will "be out a couple of weeks," Niners' coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters. Guerendo, a fourth-round pick in 2024 who collected 420 yards and four touchdowns last season, is set to miss a few weeks because of a shoulder injury.
Wilson joined the 49ers after going undrafted in 2018 and served as a solid backup during his first four seasons. He was on pace for a career season in 2022 when San Francisco traded him to the Dolphins in return for a fifth-round pick.
He closed out the 2022 campaign strong and finished with a career-high 176 carries, a career-high 860 yards and five touchdowns.
Instead of building off the best season of his career, Wilson started the 2023 campaign on the injured reserve and ended up playing just 10 games, finishing with 188 rushing yards and 85 receiving yards.
He had very little to show for last season, recording just 16 carries for 57 yards and three receptions for 19 yards in nine games.
While the last two seasons were years to forget for Wilson, the 29-year-old should have the chance to prove himself in a few preseason games and perhaps earn a spot with the 49ers during the regular season.
