Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
In the second quarter of Cleveland's matchup with the Carolina Panthers, the younger Sanders rolled out to his left and found Kaden Davis in the end zone.
Shedeur was 6-of-11 for 40 yards and a touchdown through the Browns' first four possessions of the contest.
Later in the game, Sanders found Davis again for his second touchdown pass of the night. Deion was understandably excited:
The 23-year-old started Friday's game and looked to stand out in a quarterback competition that also includes Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and third-round rookie Dillon Gabriel.
Flacco didn't play in the clash with Carolina given his veteran status, while Pickett and Gabriel were also sidelined with hamstring issues.
With Shedeur in line for extended playing time, his father was excited heading into the game and revealed that he spoke to his son three times on Friday.
The signal-caller played under his father throughout his college career at Colorado and Jackson State. He wrapped up a stellar 2024 campaign with the Buffaloes, throwing for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns compared to 10 interceptions in 13 games.
Shedeur ended up falling in the draft to the Browns, who eventually added him with a fifth-round pick.
He hasn't been able to stand out in training camp in the eyes of Cleveland's coaching staff, as he sat at No. 4 on the team's first unofficial depth chart. Flacco is also considered to be the favorite to start in Week 1 of the regular season.
Still, a strong preseason showing from Shedeur could put him in position to climb up the Browns' depth chart and potentially establish himself as a long-term option under center.
