Angel Reese 'Focused on Her Rehab' for Back Injury, Sky HC Says She Remains Day-to-Day

Timothy RappAug 7, 2025

Angel Reese will miss her fourth straight game on Thursday night as she continues to recover from a back injury, and has now only played in two games following the WNBA All-Star break.

Chicago Sky head coach Tyler Marsh provided an update on the star forward before Thursday's matchup with the Atlanta Dream:

"There isn't a concrete timetable as to the extent that I know," he added. "It's the back injury and she continues to be day-to-day... I think she's progressing but still kind of wait and see."

The Sky can afford to be overly cautious—the team is just 8-21 and, barring a miraculous turnaround, well out of the playoff picture at this point. Reese has been the team's leading scorer (14.2 PPG) and rebounder (12.6 RPG) this season, though her offensive efficiency (44.4 percent from the field, 20 percent from three, 4.0 turnovers per game) remains a work in progress.

Reese remains a huge part of the organization's future, of course, and any injury absence will garner curiosity. For the moment, it doesn't sound as though Reese's back issues are overly serious, but it also doesn't sound like the Sky feel any pressure to rush her back.
