Travis Hunter to Play WR, CB in Jaguars Preseason Debut vs. Steelers, Says Liam Coen
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen told reporters Thursday that rookie first-round pick Travis Hunter will see action at both wide receiver and cornerback during their preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday night.
Hunter is expected to make a splash during his rookie season, and DraftKings Sportsbook already has some player specials available for the wide receiver's first NFL game.

Hunter, who was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft after winning the Heisman Trophy last season at Colorado, has been getting practice reps on both sides of the ball during training camp.
Currently, Jacksonville's official depth chart lists Hunter as a starting wide receiver and backup cornerback.
When Hunter entered the draft, it was unclear if the team that selected him would let him play on both sides of the ball or if they would attempt to pigeonhole him into one spot.
However, Hunter insisted leading up to the draft that if a team tried to keep him at one position, he would respond by "never playing football again."
After trading up to take him second overall, the Jaguars were upfront about their plan to use him at both wideout and corner, and to do so by easing him in.
At the start of training camp, Hunter primarily played receiver, but he was eventually integrated into the defense as well, with Coen saying the team planned to "flip-flop" him at both positions.
During a scrimmage last week, Hunter played 17 snaps on offense and 21 snaps on defense and turned in an impressive performance, catching three passes for 43 yards at receiver and not allowing a reception at corner, per ESPN's Michael DiRocco.
This week, Hunter indicated to DiRocco that the Jags coaching staff has confidence in him to handle the large workload that comes along with being a two-way player, saying: "They actually trust me. They put a lot on my plate, but I just have to go out there and continue to attack the work that they give me."
In addition to commenting on Hunter, Coen said Thursday that "everybody" will play against the Steelers on Saturday, although it isn't yet known how long the starters will remain in the game.
That suggests Hunter should get some run with the first-team offense, headlined by quarterback Trevor Lawrence and second-year wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr.
The Jaguars went 4-13 last season and have missed the playoffs in back-to-back years. But Hunter is the impact player most expect him to be, and if the team can largely stay healthy, they have a chance to be among the most improved squads in the NFL in 2025.
