The Toronto Blue Jays showed the difference between Major League Baseball's haves and have-nots in historic fashion during their three-game series against the Colorado Rockies this week.

In their three-game road sweep of the Rockies, the Jays outscored Colorado 45-6, and they totaled 63 hits, which was the most by a team in a three-game series since 1900, according to ESPN.

Toronto put an exclamation point on the sweep with a 20-1 victory Wednesday at Coors Field. The Jays racked up 24 hits in the game, including four each from Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Ernie Clement and Ty France.

The 45 runs scored in the series represented a franchise record for the Blue Jays in a three-game set, and Toronto also became the first team to have two players with 10 or more RBI in a series of three or fewer games since 2000.

Bo Bichette and Daulton Varsho accomplished the feat for the Jays, 25 years after Alex Rodriguez and Edgar Martinez of the Seattle Mariners last did it, coincidentally against the Blue Jays.

With three wins over the Rockies, the Jays own the best record in the American League at 68-48. They also lead the AL East by four games over the Boston Red Sox and 6.5 games over the struggling New York Yankees.

However, Toronto has a tough road series on tap with the Los Angeles Dodgers, starting on Friday.

As for the Rockies, their historically bad season continues to get worse, as their 34-80 record is the worst in MLB by 12 games.

They also now have a minus-316 run differential, and their 114 games to reach minus-300 is the fewest in MLB since 1900, per ESPN.

Colorado will start a three-game road series against the National League West rival Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.
