Off-field concerns caused Carter to slip to the No. 9 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, where Philly pounced on the former Georgia standout.
The 24-year-old flashed his potential as a rookie, compiling six sacks despite playing in just 51 percent of the team's defensive snaps. With a larger role in Year 2, he broke out in a big way.
Carter's sack total (4.5) fell, but that number doesn't fully illustrate the impact he had on games. He had 12 tackles for loss and 16 hits on the quarterback.
The Eagles' Super Bowl LIX win over the Kansas City Chiefs was the perfect showcase of Carter's value. Kansas City's offensive line had to constantly account for his presence, and that opened up more space to attack Patrick Mahomes off the edge.
Should Carter take another step forward in his development, he'd leave no doubt as to his elite status.
Evans narrowly kept his streak of 1,000-yard seasons alive in 2024, finishing with 1,004 on 74 receptions across 14 starts. He has hit that benchmark in each of his first 11 seasons.
The 31-year-old also notched double digits in touchdown grabs (11) for the sixth time.
The Bucs needed Evans to keep delivering because Chris Godwin was lost to a season-ending dislocated ankle after seven games.
"If you're trying to win one game or win on third down, you're still picking him really high," one general manager said to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. "He'll decline eventually but I haven't seen any signs of it. He's still a beast."
The aging curve can be harsh for wideouts into their 30s. So far, Evans has done a great job of fending off Father Time.
