Juan Soto After Mets Lose on Near No-Hitter, 'Nobody Said It's Going to Be Easy'
Things went from bad to worse for the New York Mets on Wednesday.
Cleveland Guardians pitcher Gavin Williams no-hit the Mets through 8.1 innings until Juan Soto launched a solo home run in the ninth to get on the board. It didn't make a difference in the outcome, though, as Cleveland won 4-1.
New York is now 1-8 in the last nine games.

"Nobody said it's going to be easy to go all the way," Soto told reporters after the latest loss. "It's a challenge. We've got to go out there and take it from them. Nobody is going to bring the trophy over here and give it to us, we've got to go out there and take it."
He also said, "It's frustrating. It's frustrating for the offense, it's frustrating for even the starters. We've just got to figure out the way."
The frustration was palpable throughout Citi Field, as the fans showed their displeasure with a chorus of boos. The Mets managed just two runs in Tuesday's loss to the Guardians and were no-hit for a span of 13 innings across the two contests.
Things don't get any easier either, as next up for the National League East team is a three-game series on the road against the red-hot Milwaukee Brewers. Milwaukee has the best record in all of baseball at 69-44 and took two of three in New York when the two teams faced each other last month.
It wasn't supposed to be like this for a star-studded lineup that features Soto, Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor and Brandon Nimmo, but there is a silver lining.
The Mets are still in playoff position with a three-game lead over the Cincinnati Reds for the final wild-card spot in the National League. They are also just 2.5 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies in the division with plenty of time to turn things around during the stretch run.
As Soto said, nobody is going to hand them anything. But they are still in position to make October even with the latest struggles.
