Julia StumbaughAug 6, 2025

Carolina Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn was involved in a car crash on his way to Wednesday's joint practice with the Cleveland Browns, the team announced Wednesday morning.

Horn was evaluated by the team's medical staff and will not participate in Wednesday's practice.

The cornerback provided an update on his status around noon on Wednesday.

Horn is "not thought to have sustained any significant injuries," ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.

Horn was alone in his car at the time of the crash at the corner of Mint and Morehead streets in Charlotte. No one involved in the accident left the scene in an emergency medical transport, the Panthers said.

The intersection is located in downtown Charlotte just outside Bank of America stadium, which stands beside the facility where the joint practice is taking place.

ESPN's David Newton noted that there "was heavy rain in the area at the time of the incident."

The cornerback was seen watching Wednesday's practice in street clothes, as seen in a video shared by WFNZ's Will Palaszczuk.

Horn was seen participating in "individual work" with Panthers cornerback Mike Jackson on the sideline, per WCNC's Nick Carboni. Carboni described him as "moving okay."

Panthers head coach Dave Canales is expected to provide an update on Horn's status after Wednesday's joint practice, per Newton.

Horn, who will turn 26 in November, was drafted by the Panthers in 2021. He was named to his first Pro Bowl in 2024 while recording 2.0 sacks, 13 pass break-ups and an interception in 15 starts last season.

The Panthers signed him in March to a four-year, $100 million extension that made him the highest-paid defensive back in the NFL. His new contract is set to kick in ahead of the 2026 season, per Spotrac.
