Trey Hendrickson Listed as 3rd-Stringer on Bengals' Depth Chart Amid Contract Talks
Trey Hendrickson's ongoing hold-in as he waits for a resolution to his contract standoff with the Cincinnati Bengals, the four-time Pro Bowler is on the depth chart leading into the team's first preseason game.
Per the Bengals' official depth chart released on Tuesday, Hendrickson is listed as a co-third string defensive end with Raymond Johnson III. Joseph Ossai is in the first-string spot, with Cam Sample on the second string.
Head coach Zac Taylor told reporters the club intends to play many of his top starters, including Joe Burrow, for multiple series in the preseason opener on Thursday night.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
After holding out for the first week of training camp, Hendrickson reported on July 29. He has not been practicing with the team, but is attending team meetings and interacting with teammates.
There has reportedly been some progress made in contract talks between Hendrickson and the Bengals, but the main issues that have led to the stalemate remain in place.
Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported on Monday the Bengals have increased their offer "well" above $30 million per season, but the "stumbling block remains the guarantees."
The Bengals have a history of only guaranteeing the first year of a deal for non-quarterbacks, though they have broken that rule this offseason to sign Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
Hendrickson has one year remaining on his current deal with a $15.8 million base salary. He's coming off a 2024 that saw him earn All-Pro first-team honors after leading the NFL with 17.5 sacks.
The Bengals listing Hendrickson on the preseason depth chart doesn't necessarily mean anything good or bad. As long as they get a deal worked out before the regular season begins and he's ready to go in Week 1, everyone will be happy.
Cincinnati will open preseason play on Thursday against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.
