The NFL preseason is upon us, which means fantasy football managers are already putting together leagues, teams, and rosters that will net them bragging rights among friends by the time next February rolls around.

Those who identify and secure preseason sleepers are the ones who will have a leg up on the competition, possessing secret weapons they can deploy in their lineups and accumulate the points that earn them key wins in league matchups.

Who are some of those sleepers, and what are some of the fun team and league names to utilize?

Sleeper: Jayden Higgins (WR, Houston Texans)

With more opportunities in 2024, the Iowa State wide receiver caught 87 balls for 1,183 yards and nine touchdowns, good enough for him to be drafted by Houston near the top of the second round of this year's NFL Draft.

Higgins is built like a tight end, with a big frame and a great catch radius, and is one of the better young route runners in this year's rookie class. His abilities as a possession receiver give him a legitimate shot to start opposite Nico Collins and contribute to the Houston offense immediately.

With former Arizona Cardinal and Jacksonville Jaguar Christian Kirk as the only other potential starter on the depth chart, Higgins could be hauling in catches from CJ Stroud and impacting fantasy managers' lineups far sooner than expected.

Sleeper: Bryce Young (QB, Carolina Panthers)

Beginning with an overtime win against the Giants in Munich in 2024, the No. 1 overall pick in 2023 flashed the brilliance that gave the Panthers the confidence to take him at the top of the draft.

While his overall stats will not blow anyone away, Young did not finish outside of the top 20 quarterbacks in standard leagues after that game in Germany, according to FantasyPros. He even tallied a top-five finish against Arizona in Week 16 and was the best quarterback in fantasy in his season-ending, three-touchdown performance against Atlanta.

His decision-making was better (zero interceptions in the final three games) and and he added his rushing ability to his game, finding the end zone five times on the ground down the stretch.

Young was sacked a ton in 2024, including 14 in the last four games of the year. Some of that can be attributed to him holding onto the ball while attempting to make a play, while the rest can be blamed on a porous offensive line.

If he can stay upright in 2025, though, Young is a clear QB2 with major QB1 upside.

Sleeper: Jaydon Blue, RB, Dallas Cowboys

Cowboys Camp Football

The Dallas rookie has some fumbling issues that need cleaned up, and he was largely untested as far as pass blocking is concerned, but Blue is a dynamic back with the ball in his hands and could be the Cowboys' starter sooner rather than later.

Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that the former Texas Longhorn took first-team snaps last week. His explosiveness in the pass game, as well as the Cowboys' lack of quality starting quarterbacks, may be enough to earn him early opportunities.

Managers should jump at the opportunity to add him, as early as the third round. Miles Sanders and Jevonte Williams are not starting backs in the NFL in 2025 and while they can be complimentary players, Blue's pass catching ability and quick burst should be enough for him to assume the role of starter, even if there will be growing pains in other aspects of his performance.

Take him, benefit from the potentially explosive plays, and reap the rewards.
