
Cameron Brink Has Strong 4th Quarter as Sparks Beat Nneka Ogwumike, Storm in OT
Cameron Brink made her presence felt in the second half to help the Los Angeles Sparks win a 108-106 double-overtime thriller against the Seattle Storm on Friday night.
Playing her second game coming off a torn ACL, Brink finished with seven points on 3-of-7 shooting, four rebounds, three blocks and two steals in 12 minutes off the bench.
The fourth quarter, in particular, saw Brink find a rhythm to help the Sparks erase a 66-59 deficit entering the period. She scored all seven of her points in less than six minutes, starting with a three that got L.A. within two.

The only things that really held Brink back in this game were her minutes restriction coming off the injury and foul trouble. She committed five fouls in her 12 minutes of game time, with three coming in the fourth quarter.
Despite some rust in her overall game, Brink showed why she will be an impact player when her minutes are being limited. She became one of three players in WNBA with 10 combined points, rebounds and assists plus five stocks in 13 minutes or fewer.
Sparks head coach Lynne Roberts could tell how important Brink was in this game, commenting afterward she can't wait to see the second-year forward playing without limitations.
In addition to Brink's standout fourth quarter, the Sparks' starting unit was terrific in the victory. Four of the five starters scored at least 20 points, making them just the fifth team in WNBA history to accomplish that feat.
Rickea Jackson led the way with 27 points and had the game-tying layup with 4.6 seconds in regulation to force overtime. Kelsey Plum put up 22 points and seven assists.
Dearica Hamby finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds for her fourth double-double in the last five games. Her layup with 4.3 seconds left in double-overtime proved to be the difference after Gabby Williams' three for the Storm tied the game at 106.
Nneka Ogumike shined in the loss with a season-high 37 points on 14-of-25 shooting in 46 minutes.
The Sparks are playing their best basketball of the season at the right time. They have won six of their last eight games to improve to 12-15 overall, moving within two games of the Las Vegas Aces for the No. 8 seed in the playoff race.
Seattle has alternated wins and losses in its last nine games. Friday's defeat drops the Storm to 16-12, tied with the Indiana Fever for the five seed.
The Fever will play both of these teams in the next few days, starting with the Storm on Sunday at Climate Pledge Arena. Indiana will then travel to Los Angeles for a matchup with the Sparks on Tuesday.
