Here are the attributes and superstars with those traits that the American Nightmare went with:

  • Look: Austin Theory
  • Mic Skills: John Cena or Paul Heyman
  • Technical Wrestling: Bret Hart
  • Finishing Move: Stone Cold Stunner or Hulk Hogan's leg drop

Rhodes' most controversial pick in that group, which he acknowledged, was Austin Theory as having the perfect look for a superstar.

There are no shortage of options to choose from in that category, but Rhodes noted Theory is a guy who "looks great" and "we can teach him" the rest to make him a great star.

Certainly, Rhodes isn't alone in that thinking. It's no secret that Vince McMahon, when he was still in WWE and running creative, thought highly of Theory, so much that the two were frequently in segments together.

Theory even got a victory over John Cena at WrestleMania 39 in what was presumably going to be the start of a bigger push for the young man.

Things haven't materialized since then, as Theory has been floundering in a tag team with Grayson Waller that spent more than a year threatening to split before it was just randomly announced by Waller on the July 21 episode of Raw they were done.

The other picks by Rhodes aren't likely to generate much controversy. Cena and Paul Heyman are two of the best talkers in WWE history. Bret Hart's nickname was the "Excellence of Execution" and he's generally regarded as one of the best in-ring technicians in WWE history.

As far as the ideal finishing move, Stone Cold Steve Austin's stunner or Hulk Hogan's leg drop are great because they can be done to anyone. You don't have to worry about trying to lift someone who is significantly bigger.

The leg drop doesn't look like a particularly cool finisher in 2025 because it's a move everyone does, much like the spear and superkick. The stunner is great, particularly when Austin did it, because he could do it in any situation whether or not you could see it coming.
