Sparks' Cameron Brink Says WNBA Season Debut After Injury Was 'Like Riding a Bike'

Adam WellsJul 30, 2025

Cameron Brink made it through her first WNBA game in 13 months after suffering a torn ACL midway through her rookie season in 2024.

Speaking to reporters after the Los Angeles Sparks' 89-74 loss to the Las Vegas Aces, Brink said being back on the court was "like riding a bike" once she settled in to the rhythm of the game.

"I definitely was a little nervous at first," Brink said, "but once I got in, it felt like riding a bike. Great day. Ten out of 10."

The Sparks limited Brink to just 14 minutes off the bench. She entered for the first time with 2:39 remaining in the first quarter and recorded her first assist of the season 17 seconds later on a pass to Rickea Jackson.

Brink's first points of the season came on a three-pointer in the first quarter. It was her only made field goal of the night, as the Stanford alum finished with five points and three rebounds.

She also showed off her defensive prowess in the third quarter with a terrific block from behind when NaLyssa Smith was driving to the basket.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, Brink was having a promising rookie campaign before tearing her ACL in a game against the Connecticut Sun 15 games into the season.

Getting Brink back comes at a great time for the Sparks. The club had won five straight games prior to Tuesday's loss. They are only two games behind the Washington Mystics for the final playoff spot.

Brink and the Sparks have two days off before returning to action on Friday against the Seattle Storm at Climate Pledge Arena.
