Sandy Alcantara Reportedly Has 'Real Chance' to Get Traded amid MLB Deadline Rumors
There's reportedly a growing expectation that Miami Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara will be on the move before Thursday's trade deadline.
According to Jim Bowden of The Athletic, the market for Alcantara "is picking up drastically," and it now looks like "there is a real chance he gets traded by Thursday."
Alcantara has struggled mightily this season with a 5-9 record, a 6.66 ERA and just 77 strikeouts in 104.0 innings pitched. However, he significantly improved his trade stock with his last start after he pitched seven shutout innings with four strikeouts in a 3-2 win over the San Diego Padres. It was his first time not allowing an earned run since June 10.

It initially appeared that there was minimal interest in Alcantara amid his disappointing season, but the 2022 National League Cy Young Award winner can still be an effective starter if he achieves his old form.
The trade deadline is just two days away, so teams will have to move quickly if they want to convince the Marlins to let Alcantara go by Thursday's deadline.
