Patriots' Christian Gonzalez Suffers Hamstring Injury, Expected to Play in Week 1
The New England Patriots reportedly suffered an injury blow to one of their key players, but it's not as bad as it could've been.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on Tuesday that Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez suffered a hamstring injury in Monday's practice that "will sideline him for a bit." However, Schultz added that the injury "will not impact his Week 1 availability."
Per Khari A. Thompson of Boston.com, Gonzalez appeared to suffer the injury during the 11-on-11 portion of Monday's practice when he was matched up with star receiver Stefon Diggs. He left the field after that play and was seen walking with a limp and occasionally grabbing the upper part of the back of his left leg.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Gonzalez's injury is another blow to New England's cornerback depth as the team prepares for the 2025 season. Veteran cornerback Carlton Davis III opened training camp on the physically unable to perform list, and despite being activated, he hasn't been practicing.
The No. 17 pick in the 2023 NFL draft, Gonzalez was limited to just four games as a rookie after suffering a torn labrum, but he bounced back in a big way last year. He earned second-team All-Pro honors after recording 59 total tackles, 11 passes defended, two interceptions and a fumble recovery.
Gonzalez is expected to play a key role in helping to turn the Patriots around after the team hired Mike Vrabel as head coach. New England hasn't made the playoffs in each of the last three seasons, so keeping its best players healthy will be paramount to the team's success in 2025.
Without Gonzalez and Davis on the practice field, there will be more opportunities for players like Alex Austin, Marcus Jones and Marcellas Dial to make an impact for the Patriots.
