Tom Brady Downplays Business Side of Raiders, Aces Ownership, Enjoys 'Mentorship Role'
Tom Brady's ownership portfolio includes stakes in the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders, the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces and English soccer club Birmingham City, though he's described his role in those organizations as "trying to help other people be successful."
"I enjoy the process and the product that happens on the field," he told Ben Horney of Front Office Sports. "There's certainly business people involved in selling tickets and sponsorships and so forth, but I want to see other people be successful in their life and their sporting career."
"I don't look at it from a business standpoint," he added. "I look at it from a purpose-driven standpoint."

He also spoke specifically about the role he plays at Birmingham City, where he told Horney he doesn't hold a "day-to-day operational role."
"I feel like I can play a role from 30,000 feet to make sure the players are saying the right thing, the coaches are saying the right thing, the processes for their success are correct," he continued. "And I really enjoy that role, and I can play a mentorship role in different ways in a lot of different areas."
He has seemingly been more directly involved with the Raiders, where he reportedly was instrumental in the hirings of general manager John Spytek and head coach Pete Carroll this offseason. How involved he'll be in the business side of the football operations remains to be seen, though Brady is downplaying that type of role.
