WWE SummerSlam 2025 Historic Match Card Lineup Revealed for Saturday, Sunday Schedule
WWE revealed the match placement for the first two-night SummerSlam in company history during a YouTube special hosted by Sam Roberts and Megan Morant on Friday.
Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp posted a graphic of the SummerSlam 2025 Night 1 and Night 2 cards on X:
SummerSlam will emanate from the New York Jets' and New York Giants' MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Saturday, Aug. 2 and Sunday, Aug. 3.
As of now, WWE is advertising six matches on Night 1 and five matches on Night 2 for a grand total of 11.
Night 1 includes three title matches, Gunther vs. CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship and Tiffany Stratton for the Women's World Championship, while all five matches on the Night 2 card are title bouts.
Not surprisingly, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t WrestlePurists) reported last week that plans call for Gunther vs. Punk to be the Night 1 main event and John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship to be the Night 2 main event.
Cena vs. Rhodes is a rematch from WrestleMania 41, which saw Cena beat Cody to become a record-breaking, 17-time world champion thanks to help from rapper Travis Scott.
At Elimination Chamber back in March, Cena attacked Rhodes, which turned him heel for the first time in more than 20 years.
After dropping the WWE title to Cena at WrestleMania, Rhodes won the King of the Ring tournament to earn a title match at SummerSlam, and two of the biggest stars in the company are set to clash again in the likely main event.
Other major storylines entering SummerSlam include the in-ring return of Roman Reigns with him and Jey Uso facing Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, the in-ring debut of country music star Jelly Roll alongside Randy Orton against Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul, and a Triple Threat for the Women's World Championship between Naomi, Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky after Naomi successfully cashed in her Money in the Bank contract during a title match between Ripley and Sky at Evolution.
Since SummerSlam is just over one week away, there is still time for WWE to add more matches with two SmackDowns and one Raw between now and SummerSlam.
Meltzer (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats) reported this week that a six-team TLC match had been discussed for SummerSlam.
That could potentially come to fruition on Friday night's episode of SmackDown when the Wyatt Sicks are scheduled to defend the WWE Tag Team Championships against Andrade and Rey Fenix.
If other teams such as The Street Profits, DIY, The Motor City Machine Guns and Fraxiom get involved, that could possibly set the stage for a TLC match at SummerSlam.
Other rivalries that could potentially yield SummerSlam matches include Aleister Black vs. Damian Priest, Stephanie Vaquer vs. Chelsea Green and Sheamus vs. Rusev.
