Sandy Alcantara Trade Reportedly Discussed by Red Sox, Marlins Amid MLB Rumors
As the trade deadline approaches, the Boston Red Sox have yet to make a move, with pitching remaining their top priority. According to MassLive.com's Sean McAdam, they’ve reached out to the Miami Marlins about ace Sandy Alcantara.
As of Friday, no names have been officially exchanged, per McAdam.
While his trade destination remains unknown, Alcantara is reportedly “aware” that he will be traded ahead of the deadline.
"A person very close to Sandy Alcántara told me he'll be traded. 'He's aware he'll be traded and has already packed all his things to leave Miami,'" MLB insider Héctor Gómez wrote.
The ace is 5-9 on the season since returning from Tommy John surgery last year and is beginning to show flashes of his 2022 Cy Young form, posting a 6.66 ERA with 77 strikeouts and a 1.43 WHIP over 20 starts.
The 29-year-old has been with the Marlins since 2018 after starting his career with the St. Louis Cardinals.
