Hogan's death was confirmed by his manager, Chris Volo, on Thursday. TMZ Sports reported emergency medical personnel was called to his house for a "cardiac arrest" event. The WWE Hall of Famer was 71 years old.
After eight years away from WWE, Hogan returned to the promotion in 2002 as a member of the nWo. His first program back was with The Rock, culminating in a memorable encounter between the two at WrestleMania.
The Rock scored the win over Hogan in the bout, and the crowd's response to Hulk prompted an immediate babyface turn. He defeated Triple H to win the undisputed WWE championship at Backlash the following month for what turned out to be his final singles title of his WWE tenure.
Hogan and Rock most recently shared the ring, along with Stone Cold Steve Austin, in a segment at the start of WrestleMania 30 in 2014. Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.
