Fever's Caitlin Clark Has No Timetable for Injury Return, Focus on 'Long-Term Health'

Zach BacharJul 24, 2025

The Indiana Fever announced that star point guard Caitlin Clark doesn't have a timetable for her recovery from a groin injury, "with the priority on her long-term health and well-being," according to Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files.

The Fever also revealed that "no additional injuries or damage" were discovered following extensive medical evaluations throughout the week.

Clark hasn't played since July 15 after aggravating a groin injury during a victory over the Connecticut Sun.

She initially missed time with a groin injury earlier in the season, coming back to play in four games before dealing with more groin issues against the Sun. Clark also missed five contests due to a quad injury.

The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year hasn't been able to build upon her stellar inaugural season. She's only appeared in 13 of Indiana's 24 games this year. The Fever own a record of 8-5 with Clark in their lineup compared to a 4-7 mark without her.

While the former Iowa standout is known for her long-range accuracy, she's struggled to stay consistently efficient while dealing with injuries. Clark's averaging 16.5 points and ranks No. 2 in the league with 8.8 assists per game, but is shooting just 36.7 percent from the field and 27.9 percent from three-point territory this season.

The Fever will hope that Clark can return before the start of the playoffs, as their 12-12 overall record currently has them at No. 7 in the WNBA standings. Indiana only sits one game above the Golden State Valkyries at No. 9, though.
