Luis Robert Jr. Reportedly 'Impressed' MLB Scouts With Improved Play Amid Trade Rumors
Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr. reportedly has drawn attention as an intriguing trade asset before the July 31 deadline.
Per ESPN's Jeff Passan, "Robert's surge over the last week has impressed scouts and defibrillated his trade value, which for most of the season had cratered."
Robert is hitting a career-worst .206 this season with 10 home runs and 40 RBI, but he's shown new signs of life over his last few outings. In 10 games this month, he's hit .364 with two homers and eight RBI.

After making his MLB debut with Chicago in 2020, Robert was once a coveted prospect who was expected to have a bright future. He earned a Gold Glove Award as a rookie and was named to the All-Star Game in 2023, but he's struggled to return to that peak.
Passan explained that Robert is now a polarizing player who teams are hesitant to give up assets for his acquisition, but the White Sox still won't let him go for a cheap price.
"The White Sox don't want to move him for a reduced return, though, which leaves the outfielder in trade limbo," Passan wrote. "He won't fetch what he would have two years ago; he also isn't the sort of player a team deals for a middling prospect. The upside is too palpable."
