Legendary former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has begun preparations for his upcoming Celebrity Boxing match against the man he came to blows with during a game of poker back in May.

On Wednesday, TMZ Sports posted video of Peterson in the ring doing some mitt work in anticipation of the bout:

Last month, TMZ Sports reported that Peterson got into a fist fight at a social club called JokerStars in Houston on May 27, and it released video of the incident as well:

Peterson told TMZ that he was friends with Joe Castaneda, but things escalated into a brawl over a poker dispute: "Me and the guy, we're cool. We've known each other. It was literally like a brother situation. We agreed to disagree, we had our words, and we threw blows—and that was it."

The 40-year-old future Pro Football Hall of Famer went on to say that he "felt really bad" after the fight happened and had "regret" over the situation.

Despite that, Peterson and Castaneda are going to throw hands again, although this time it will be in a competitive environment.

Celebrity Boxing founder Damon Feldman has yet to announce a date or location for the fight, but he told TMZ that he is working out the details.

When the match comes to fruition, it will mark Peterson's second official fight in the boxing world.

His first came in 2022 against fellow former NFL running back Le'Veon Bell in a bout that Bell won by fifth-round technical knockout.

It remains to be seen if Peterson can get the job done in the ring, but on the gridiron, he established himself as one of the greatest running backs in NFL history.

Over the course of his 15-year career from 2007 to 2021 with the Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Washington Commanders, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks, Peterson was a seven-time Pro Bowler and four-time First Team All-Pro.

He was also NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year with the Vikings in 2012 when he rushed for 2,097 yards and 12 touchdowns despite tearing his ACL the previous year.

Peterson ranks fifth in league history in rushing yardage (14,918) and fourth in rushing touchdowns (120), and he is currently eligible to go into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as early as 2027.
