WNBA CBA Meeting Reportedly Featured Over 40 Players, Sides at 'Standstill'

Taylyn Hadley Jul 21, 2025

Following a WNBA CBA meeting during the All-Star break that saw over 40 players in attendance, negotiations remain at a "standstill," according to ESPN’s Kendra Andrews.

“The part that’s really holding everything up is the topic of increased salary — what the players are saying is getting a bigger piece of the pie when it comes to revenue shares," Kendra Andrews told Malika Andrews on NBA Today on Monday (1:45 in video). "That’s what Napheesa Collier told me is their 'non-negotiable.' It’s what they’re not budging on."

WNBA players wore “Pay Us What You Owe Us” shirts after many entered the CBA meeting expecting significant progress, only to leave disappointed when the league failed to address key player concerns.

New York Liberty’s Breanna Stewart called it a “missed opportunity,” per Kendra Andrews citing the strong player turnout that ultimately didn’t lead to meaningful progress.

Seattle Storm’s Nneka Ogwumike, president of the WNBA Players Association, made it clear that the players would not be backing down following the disappointing CBA meeting over the All-Star break.

“We’ve seen the growth in the league, and as it stands, the current salary system isn’t paying us what we’re owed," Ogwumike said, per Kendra Andrews "We want to be able to have that fair share moving forward, especially as we’ve seen all of the investment going on. We want our salaries to reflect that — in a structure that makes sense to us.”
