Dodgers' Freddie Freeman Day-to-Day After X-Rays on Wrist Injury Negative

Zach BacharJul 20, 2025

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed that star first baseman Freddie Freeman is considered day-to-day after X-rays on his wrist injury were negative, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.

Freeman exited the team's 6-5 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday due to a left wrist contusion.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Freeman was hit in the wrist by a pitch and immediately walked to Los Angeles' dugout before heading down into the tunnel (h/t Ardaya).

The 35-year-old was 0-for-2 with a pair of strikeouts prior to his departure.

Hyeseong Kim entered the game to run for Freeman before moving to second base in the bottom of the inning. Miguel Rojas opened Sunday's contest at second until he took over for Freeman at first base.

The nine-time All-Star appeared in 86 of Los Angeles' first 99 regular-season games entering the matchup with Milwaukee, briefly missing time earlier in the year due to an ankle injury.

While Freeman has suited up in at least 147 games in each of the past four seasons, he previously missed 10 weeks with a fractured left wrist during his 2017 campaign.

The Dodgers will attempt to mitigate his absence if he's forced to miss time as they look to defend their 2024 World Series title, currently sitting at No. 1 in the National League West standings with a 58-42 record.

Freeman, who earned World Series MVP honors last season, has remained sharp at the plate to open his 2025 campaign. He's recorded 10 home runs, 26 doubles and 49 RBIs while hitting .292 to go along with an OPS of .836.

Catcher Dalton Rushing is an option to start at first base until Freeman returns.
