Red Sox Reportedly Would Have Rays' Yandy Diaz 'High' on Trade Wish List If Available
The Boston Red Sox would be interested in Tampa Bay Rays infielder Yandy Díaz if he's available on the trade market, according to Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com.
"But if the Rays do what they always do, and trade players getting close to free agency, someone like Yandy Díaz could be available," Cotillo reported Thursday. "If he is, sources indicate, he’d be high on the wish list of some Red Sox decision-makers."
Boston could acquire Díaz to strengthen a potential postseason run, currently sitting three games behind the Toronto Blue Jays for the No. 1 spot in the American League East.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
The Red Sox have already been active during the season, trading three-time All-Star Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants on June 15. The move hasn't slowed down Boston, as it entered the 2025 All-Star festivities riding a 10-game win streak.
Despite the recent success for the Red Sox, they could pursue a first baseman such as Díaz after Triston Casas suffered a season-ending ruptured tendon in his left knee.
Romy González has stepped in for Casas at first base and performed admirably, hitting five home runs and 15 doubles to go along with 28 RBIs in 44 games.
While González owns a .945 OPS this year, Boston could be hesitant to trust him as a long-term substitute for Casas considering he owned a .242/.271/.387 slash line through his first four years in the majors.
Meanwhile, Díaz is hitting .285 with 14 homers and 53 RBIs through his first 91 games of the 2025 season.
The former batting champion is set to receive $12 million during the 2026 season and has a vesting option for 2027, pending 2026 performance thresholds.
Tampa Bay sits 5.5 games back from the AL East lead with a 50-47 record, but could field offers for Díaz if the team starts to fall out of the postseason picture.
If the Rays decide to sell at the deadline, the Red Sox will reportedly be interested in Díaz.
