Paige Bueckers Broke These Caitlin Clark Records to Make WNBA History Before All-Star

Adam WellsJul 17, 2025

With the first half of the WNBA season complete, Paige Bueckers' career is off to a better start than Caitlin Clark during her rookie year in 2024.

Bueckers reached the 250-point mark in 13 games. Clark needed 16 games to hit the mark, which made her the fastest player to get to 250 points since 2006. She is also shooting a league-high 58.2 percent of her midrange field-goal attempts.

The Dallas Wings guard received the most fan votes by a rookie for the WNBA All-Star Game (805,471), breaking the record set by Clark last season (700,735).

Bueckers became the fastest guard to reach 250 points, 50 rebounds and 50 assists since 1997.

Bueckers and Clark played their first head-to-head matchup in the WNBA on Sunday. The Indiana Fever earned a 102-83 win in a game that Bueckers scored 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Clark recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 assists in 25 minutes.

Optimism was incredibly high for Bueckers when she entered the W and was selected No. 1 overall by the Wings in the 2025 draft. The UConn legend has more than lived up to the hype based on the early returns.

Based on her current pace, Bueckers is on track to become the third rookie in WNBA history to score 700 points and dish out 200 assists. Clark is the record-holder in both categories with 769 points and 337 assists.

Bueckers will be starting as a member of Napheesa Collier's team in the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday.
