McCaffrey's 2024 season was derailed by injuries, as he was limited to four games after dealing with Achilles tendonitis and a PCL injury. Still, the 2023 NFL Offensive Player of the Year is one of the best in the game.
In his four appearances, McCaffrey totaled 202 rushing yards on 50 carries and 15 catches for 146 yards. It was the first time in his NFL career that he finished the year without a touchdown.
Without McCaffrey, the 49ers suffered mightily and finished with a 6-11 record, falling short of the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
A healthy McCaffrey should strike fear in NFL defenses entering the 2025 season, as he will surely be hungry to make up for lost time and bounce back in a big way this year.
After spending 11 of his first 12 years in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks, Wagner brought his veteran leadership to the Commanders for the 2024 season. He helped institute a massive turnaround for a Washington team that ranked last in total defense in 2023 with 388.9 yards allowed per game, as the team rose to 13th last year with an average of 327.9 yards allowed.
A model of consistency, Wagner played all 17 games for the Commanders and recorded 132 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, four passes defended, two sacks, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. He earned his 10th career Pro Bowl selection and was named second-team All-Pro for the fifth time. He has recorded over 100 tackles in all 13 years of his career, the second-longest streak in NFL history.
The defensive improvements by Wagner and company helped the Commanders finish with a 12-5 record and make a surprising run to the NFC Championship Game, where they lost to the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles. After the season, Wagner re-signed with Washington to continue building on the success of the 2024 campaign.
It's safe to say that Wagner and the Commanders will be motivated to prove that last season wasn't a fluke as they try to establish themselves as Super Bowl contenders in 2025.
