Tyreek Hill No. 1 in NFL Network Top 100 Players of 2024; Lamar Jackson No. 2

Andrew PetersAug 2, 2024

For the first time since 2019, the NFL Network's top player is not a quarterback.

NFL Network concluded its list of the league's top 100 players on Friday, giving Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill the nod as the No. 1 player over previous winners like Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (No. 4) and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (No. 2).

Hill was quick to react to the honor:

Nos. 100-81

San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Trent Williams earned the highest ranking ever for an offensive lineman, though he already held the title as the highest-ranked offensive lineman before this year's list. That doesn't come as much of a surprise considering how well Williams protected quarterback Brock Purdy last season on the way to a Super Bowl appearance for the 49ers.

The top 10 was friendly to the Kansas City Chiefs with star tight end Travis Kelce, defensive tackle Chris Jones and Mahomes all finding their way onto the list. It's only fitting that several players from Kansas City made the top 10 after yet another Super Bowl win last year.

Though Mahomes once again found himself in the top five, it's a bit surprising he wasn't given the nod as the top player after leading the Chiefs to a Super Bowl. The well-accomplished quarterback will be looking to use the snub as motivation this season.

Lamar Jackson is coming off an MVP season that saw him collect 3,678 passing yards and 24 touchdowns along with 821 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground. Like Mahomes, there's a strong case to be made for Jackson at No. 1.

Hill's position at No. 1 comes after the wide receiver picked up a league-best 1,799 receiving yards and 13 receiving touchdowns, tied for the most in the NFL last year. He also had 119 receptions, which was second only to Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Hill also made history on Friday, becoming the first wide receiver to land at No. 1 in the history of NFL Network's top 100 list, which began in 2015.
