MLB's Ketel Marte Says $400K in Items Stolen in Home Burglary While at All-Star Game

Adam WellsJul 21, 2025

When Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte was playing in the 2025 MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday, his home in Scottsdale was being burglarized.

Per David Baker and Casey Torres of the AZFamily.com, police confirmed the burglar took "numerous personal items" from Marte's home.

Marte revealed on Sunday that more than $400,000 worth of items were stolen:

Police noted no one was at the house at the time of the burglary. The investigation remains active and no one has been arrested at this point.

Marte, 31, was the starting second baseman for the National League in Tuesday's All-Star Game in Atlanta. He went 1-for-2 with a two-run double in the bottom of the first inning.

There have been a string of burglaries at the homes of high-profile athletes across the U.S. within the past 12 months. The incidents typically occur when the athlete is playing in a game.

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce had their homes burglarized last October when the Kansas City Chiefs were hosting the New Orleans Saints. Joe Burrow's home was burglarized when the Cincinnati Bengals were playing the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football on Dec. 9.

On Dec. 30, the FBI issued a formal warning to sports leagues about athletes' homes being targeted by organized theft groups.

The FBI noted the groups "conduct physical and technical surveillance in preparation for these burglaries, using publicly available information and social media to identify a pattern of life for a prospective victim."

On Feb. 19, federal prosecutors charged seven men with with conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property in connection to the burglaries of several prominent athletes. The charges carry a maximum prison sentence of 10 years if they are convicted.

It's unclear at this point if Marte's home is connected to the string of high-profile burglaries. He is in his ninth season with the Diamondbacks and made the All-Star team this year for the third time in his career.
