Micah Parsons Talks to WWE's Undertaker About His Contract Situation with Cowboys

Adam WellsJul 17, 2025

Micah Parsons expressed his frustration over the state of contract talks with the Dallas Cowboys in an interview with WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker.

Appearing on the Six Feet Under podcast, Parsons said he "wanted to do the contract last year" and he doesn't understand why the team is dragging its feet now. "Obviously, ownership's always going to make it drag out, make it more complicated than it has to be, lack of communication," Parson added.

One point that Parsons made is the Cowboys have cost themselves more money by waiting. He became eligible to sign an extension off his rookie deal after the 2023 season.

In the time since Parsons first became eligible to get an extension, the market for EDGE players has changed dramatically. This offseason alone has seen Myles Garrett, Danielle Hunter and Maxx Crosby all sign deals worth at least $35.5 million annually.

Even expanding to players outside of the same positional group, Ja'Marr Chase surpassed Garrett as the highest-paid non-quarterback when he got a four-year, $161 million extension from the Cincinnati Bengals.

That will almost certainly be the starting point for Parsons' camp in talks with the Cowboys. Meanwhile, the Cowboys and Jerry Jones continue to let things drag out with their star players in ways that aren't financially beneficial to them.

They just went through this last offseason with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. Even though both players eventually got deals done, they came in at a very high cost because of how long the Cowboys waited to do it.

Another key point from Parsons' comments to the Undertaker came when he said there has been a "lack of communication" to this point. It's unclear exactly when Parsons' representatives and Cowboys officials last spoke, but he didn't make it sound like anything was in the works.

All of this comes after Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said in April he doesn't know the name of Parsons' agent.

History suggests that Parsons will eventually get his extension from the Cowboys this offseason, possibly within a week of the regular season starting based on when they finalized Prescott's deal.

It works out well for Parsons because he will end up being able to negotiate for more money thanks to the Cowboys waiting, but it seems to be a frustrating process for someone who has been arguably the best defensive player in the NFL since entering the league in 2021.
